Natural-Looking Tummy Tuck Results

Are You In Need Of A Tummy Tuck Surgery?

Standard or mini tummy tuck surgery is for women or men who are in good physical health and need to remove a large section of excess skin from the middle. Candidates for this procedure include people who often have to deal with loose skin after losing a considerable amount of weight, those who haven’t been able to lose the pooch with weight loss techniques alone, & those who have weak abdominal muscles after pregnancy.

Candidates With Significant Weight Loss

Candidates who have saggy abdominal skin due to losing a significant amount of weight often tend to become self-conscious, and as a result, gain back the weight that they had lost. Plastic surgery procedures such as a tummy tuck can help them maintain their healthier physique and self-confidence.

Safely Trim Your Stomach For A More Contoured Waistline

A tummy tuck procedure aims to remove excess skin and fat from around the abdomen. In most cases, the procedure is also used to restore separated or weakened muscles in order to create an abdominal profile that looks more appealing at the beach, at work, out with friends and in intimate situations. There are a variety of procedures and techniques that Dr. Vu may employ for your abdominoplasty surgery. These include:

Standard Tummy Tuck

Mini Tummy Tuck

Extended Tummy Tuck

Full Vs. Mini Tummy Tuck

Full Tummy Tuck Surgery

A full tummy tuck, or full abdominoplasty:

  • removes excess skin
  • eliminates unwanted fat
  • tightens the abdominal muscles
  • improves & contours the shape of the abdominal area

Additionally, sagging skin is removed from above and below the belly button, and the remaining skin and muscles are pulled tight to create a flat tummy. Excess fat is also removed through liposuction of the abdomen and flanks. A new opening and position for the belly button is also created for a natural appearance.

Mini Tummy Tuck Surgery

As compared to a full tummy tuck, a mini tummy tuck is less invasive and takes less than an hour. The recovery period for this procedure is also shorter. During the process, a short incision is made, usually smaller than that for a full abdominoplasty. The belly button might not require repositioning to look natural.

Remove Large Amounts Of Sagging Skin With Extended Tummy Tuck Surgery:

The extended tummy tuck surgery is for patients who have a large amount of sagging skin on their midsection, sides, hips and lower back. The surgeon makes an incision in the abdomen that reaches across the hips all the way to the lower back. This particular procedure almost always requires a liposuction procedure in order to drain extra fluids and remove excess fat cells. After this, Dr. Vu tightens the abdominal muscles, removes loose skin and seals the cut.

Tummy Tuck Surgery Recovery

Standard Abdominoplasty
The recovery time is usually 2 to 4 weeks. Initial recovery stages might require patients to stay overnight in the hospital. They might also be prescribed medication to manage any pain and discomfort. This particular procedure involves a large surgical incision that is made in a straight line between the hip bones. Minor liposuction may be needed to get rid of excess fat before Vu tightens the muscles in the abdomen and seals the incision. The belly button is repositioned at the end since a large part of the skin needs to be removed.

We may also perform:

  • Endoscopic tummy tuck – This particular procedure leaves the least amount of scarring since it removes the least amount of skin and is performed with a small incision.
  • Panniculectomy – This is also known as a fat apron removal surgery.
  • Circumferential Abdominoplasty – As the name implies, this procedure involves a surgical incision that is made completely around the waistline.

Combining Tummy Tuck With Liposuction

Liposuction is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures performed by Orange County plastic surgeon Dr. Vu of California Aesthetic Center. He often combines the procedure with other elective plastic surgeries to give Huntington Beach and Orange County patients optimal results. For example, liposuction is commonly combined with a tummy tuck in which excess skin is removed, and separated abdominal muscles are repaired. Many women chose to include a breast augmentation as part of a mommy makeover. It’s all about looking and feeling your best.

Learn About Belt Lipectomy

Are you deciding between a belt lipectomy or tummy tuck? The two procedures are similar but can produce different outcomes.

A belt lipectomy is a surgical procedure that can remove excess skin from around your waist or “belt line.” It is a combination of a tummy tuck, abdominoplasty, and buttock lift. The procedure is most commonly performed on men and women who have a lot of significant amount of weight. A continuous incision is placed around the waist or “belt” to contour the abdomen and back side. Both excess fat and skin can be removed to achieve significant lift and contour of the waistline.

The best way to determine which procedure is right for you is by scheduling a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Vu in Orange County. He can assess your excess loose skin to confirm whether you need a belt lipectomy or tummy tuck.

Much like a tummy tuck, a belt lipectomy focuses on removing excess loose skin from the abdominal area and the lower back area. The difference is that a belt lipectomy is a more aggressive procedure to contour your waistline. A long, horizontal incision is made across the waistline and around the back to remove any sagging skin that is present on the buttock and mid-back
